Davante Adams wants Tom Brady to unretire and play QB for the Raiders

Though he made more recent comments stating that he’s “100% happy” and “proud to wear [the] uniform” of the Las Vegas Raiders, there were multiple instances during last season where superstar wide receiver Davante Adams exhibited frustration with his playing situation for the team — the infamous “I gotta get the f— outta here before I lose my f—- life” outburst on the sidelines, a similar eruption on the sidelines during a game against Detroit and when he told reporters in October that “he’s not here to hang out” after being targeted only nine times in the span of two games.

Perhaps that’s what made Adams make such a bold statement on the latest episode of Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, where he said he wants Tom Brady to unretire and play QB for the Raiders.

“Hell yes,” Adams laughed, when asked about the seven time Super Bowl winner and longtime Patriots field general. “You gonna talk about how old he is. I don’t care. I don’t care. … I think I’d be the first person to play with Tom and Aaron [Rodgers]. So that’d be pretty cool. He’s gotta still be able to throw it better than half these dudes in the league.”

Though there were high hopes for Garoppolo in the 2023 season, considering he was familiar with coach McDaniels’ offense in the past, throwing an average of 71 yards per pass attempt, and throwing 7 touchdowns to 9 interceptions in his six stars. Jimmy G was eventually benched for fourth-round rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell.

During an episode the Netflix documentary “Receiver,” Adams revealed that he was supportive of Jimmy G being relieved of his quarterback duties.

“Well my opinion on that, was I signed off on that. And that’s just the reality of it,” Adams said in an episode. “You know, I love Jimmy and he’s a great guy, but something had to happen in order for us to have a chance down the stretch and in order for me to remain a Raider, in all honesty.”

Though the quarterback situation was not ideal under the offense of Josh McDaniels and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo last season, Adams still put up respectable stats, including 103 receptions on 175 targets, 1,144 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns. That being said, it was overall a bit of a down season from his previous year with the Raiders, where he had 100 receptions on 180 targets, 1,516 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns with Derek Carr primarily serving as QB that year (2022).

What do you think of the fact that Davante Adams wants Tom Brady to unretire and play QB for the Raiders? Is it just a joking/bombastic comment made to garner attention? Considering in May of 2023 Brady reached an agreement with Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis to become a minority owner of the team, it’s highly unlikely that Brady will come out of retirement and serve as the team’s quarterback — but much like Davante Adams, it’s interesting to speculate.
