Podcaster and UFC color commentator Joe Rogan is less than thrilled that Francis Ngannou next fight won’t be in the UFC after the heavyweight champion and the organization couldn’t reach an agreement after Ngannou’s contract expired in late December, with Ngannou alleging that the UFC wouldn’t recognize his appeals for fighter benefits or his desire to also compete in boxing against potential big-name opponents like Tyson Fury.
โIโm so bummed out, man,โ Rogan said on the latest episode of โThe Joe Rogan Experience,” while hosting guest Belal Muhammad. โI do not like this whole thing. I do not like this at all. I do not like when a champion leaves. I do not like having the best guy in the world not being the champion. I do not like the best guy in the world not fighting for the title against Jon.
โIf Francis wanted to resign and he wanted to say, โIโm done, I had a great career, I made some money and Iโm going to relax,โ OK. Congratulations, sir. You had a great career,” Rogan added. “But to not make it through negotiations, I donโt know what the deal is. I suspect some of it involved him wanting to be able to box as well, because there very well may be a pot of gold at the end of that rainbow.โ
Are you disappointed that Francis Ngannou’s next fight won’t be in the UFC, as Joe Rogan expressed? Would you rather have seen Francis Ngannou vs. Jon Jones than the scheduled Jon Jones vs. Cyril Gane at UFC 285? Let us know what you think in the comments.
