Mike Tyson on his upcoming fight with Jake Paul: “He’s going to try to hurt me, which I’m accustomed to, and he’s going to be greatly mistaken”

Mike Tyson recently appeared on the Sean Hannity Show on Fox News where he discussed his upcoming boxing match against Jake Paul. Despite many people balking at the idea of a near 60-year-old Tyson facing off against a 27-year-old Jake Paul in his athletic prime, including combat sports coaches like John Kavanagh, Tyson addressed his critics and asserted why he thinks his match-up with Paul will be a favorable one.

Most importantly, Tyson allayed fears that he’s gone the route of other professional athletes in their old age, stressing that he continues to make his boxing training regimen a part of his day-to-day routine.

“I train everyday,” Tyson told Hannity. “Hey, I take it serious. Listen, it’s the whole day, it’s a process. I get up in the morning, do the roadwork, then I go to the gym at 1 and then I go to the strength and conditioning guy, then it starts all over again.”

Tyson also believes that although Jake Paul is younger, his speed in the ring won’t be enough to stymy him. “I don’t know, I don’t think he’s faster than me,” Tyson added.

Despite the fact that Tyson has been training regularly and doesn’t think Jake Paul’s speed will be in issue in their upcoming boxing match, he isn’t underestimating his YouTuber-turned-boxer opponent in the least.

“I think he’s came a long way from YouTubing,” Tyson continued. “And, listen, I’ve seen a YouTube of him at 16 doing weird dances — that’s not the guy I’m going to be fighting. This guy’s going to come, he’s going to try to hurt me, which I’m accustomed to, and he’s going to be greatly mistaken.”

Tyson also explained the reason for his upcoming match with Jake Paul and why he’s coming back to fight at nearly 60-years-old.

“Listen, I have a weird personality — I don’t think it’s weird, though,” Tyson explained. “Whatever I’m afraid to do, I do it. And that’s how it is. I was afraid for the Roy fight, I was scared to fight again. I was 100lbs overweight, I was however old, 54, 53, and I said ‘let’s do it.’ Anything I’m afraid of, I confront it, and that’s my personality. Like right now I’m scared to death, but as the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become because it’s reality, and in reality I’m invincible.”
